H3 Recast: A New Cast for Footage That's Already Shot
This tool works on video you have already shot and edited: it keeps the acting, the framing and the sound, and changes only which person appears in frame.
- A Casting Change, Not a Fresh RenderThe take itself is never re-rendered; the tool leaves every frame's motion and lighting intact and only replaces the individual standing in it.
- Up to Four People, Mapped Left to RightHand over as many as four portraits and each one claims a lead figure across the whole sequence, so the same face returns after every cut.
- Acting, Edits and Sound Come ThroughGestures, the rhythm of the performance, the direction of the light and the final audio mix all carry over untouched.
Putting H3 Recast to Work in Three Steps
From an edited clip to a fresh cast in a few minutes — here is the whole workflow.
What H3 Recast Handles for You
See what H3 Recast locks in place, what it replaces, and how to preserve the original hair and wardrobe when the shot demands it.
The Same Face After Every Cut
Each portrait is bound to one performer and stays bound to them shot after shot, so the role never changes face mid-sequence.
Reorder the Cast with a Prompt
Pairing follows screen order unless you say otherwise — name a figure and a photo in the prompt and the tool follows your instruction instead.
Keep the Original Hair and Wardrobe
By default the reference look may bleed through; ask for a face-only swap when the costume and styling from the source must survive.
Low-Res Draft, Full-Res Finish
A fast draft render confirms the swap works before you spend credits on the high-resolution export.
Runtime Stays Exactly the Same
Whatever goes in comes out at the same duration, so cost scales with your footage rather than with an abstract setting.
Pacing and Audio Left Untouched
Cuts, transitions and the finished mix come through as they were, so the recast version drops straight back into your timeline.
Questions About H3 Recast, Answered
Straight answers on clip limits, portrait requirements, resolution choices and when a recast is the wrong tool for the job.
What video length does H3 Recast accept?
Anywhere from five to thirty seconds, and no single shot beyond fifteen. Cut longer material into pieces beforehand — the result matches the length you upload.
How many faces can I swap at once?
Up to four, each with its own photo. Screen order decides the default mapping from left to right, and a prompt overrides it when you need a different arrangement.
Which photos give the cleanest result?
Pick a single front-facing headshot per person, sharp and evenly lit. Avoid sunglasses, hats, covered faces, group photos, soft focus and heavy filters.
Does the reference photo change hair or outfits?
It can, even when you only supply a headshot. If the costume and hairstyle from the original shot have to stay, say so in the prompt.
Is 768p or 1080p the right choice?
Draft in 768p to confirm the swap looks right, then export at 1080p. Cost is tied to how long the clip runs, not to resolution alone.
Where does H3 Recast fall short?
It cannot invent new camera moves, blocking or locations. Crowded frames, distant faces, rapid motion and heavy occlusion all cause trouble, and a likeness may soften across long takes.
