Code, Not Footage: How claude motion design Builds Explainer Videos

Each scene is generated as editable code from your brief, so text, charts, shapes, and images glide into place like a produced clip — and every element stays open to change.

  • Scenes Rendered From Code
The output is an artifact built on the Motion template: your prompt becomes code that moves text, charts, shapes, and images. No video model is involved, so lifelike footage and people are never produced.
  • Every Project Saves as an Artifact
Whatever you make lands in the Artifacts tab. Motion is simply one template on that list, so your animations sit beside everything else you have created.
  • Adjust One Element, Leave the Rest Alone
Since the result is code, changing a word, a figure, or the timing of a single beat keeps every other element exactly where you left it.

Prompt Recipes for Business Moments

Request a half-minute all-hands recap drawn from a quarterly report, a pricing comparison that animates for a sales kickoff, or a brief onboarding walkthrough aimed at new customers.

Edits Requested in Plain Chat

Type “slow down the second scene” or “make the Q3 figure 18%” and the animation is rebuilt to match.

Owners and Primary Owners flip Motion on or off under Organization settings > Artifacts — enabled by default on Team, disabled on Enterprise, and restrictable to selected groups through custom roles.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About claude motion design

Answers to the questions people ask most about claude motion design — plan access, what it can and cannot render, storage, usage limits, and downloads.

1

Which plans include access to claude motion design?

Motion is in beta for Team and Enterprise. Team workspaces have it switched on from the start; Enterprise workspaces keep it off until an owner enables it under Organization settings > Artifacts.

2

Can it produce lifelike footage or human characters?

It cannot. No video generation model sits behind Motion, so photoreal footage and people are outside what it does. What animates is the text, charts, shapes, and images taken from your own material and expressed as code.

3

Where are finished animations stored?

Each one is saved to the Artifacts tab as an artifact created from the Motion template, right alongside your other artifacts.

4

Does Motion count against my usage allowance?

It does. Motion draws on the same usage allowance as the rest of your work, and a long or complicated animation uses noticeably more than a normal message.

5

Is there a way to download the animation as a video?

Yes. Choose Export and select MP4, and the animation is delivered as a video file you can play, embed, or upload wherever you need it.

6

Who enables Motion for a whole organization, and can access be narrowed?

Owners and Primary Owners manage it under Organization settings > Artifacts. On Enterprise, they can also limit Motion to particular groups using custom roles.
